Dan Savage who is well known for the “It Gets Better” campaign and promoting tolerance, snaps. “I wish they were all fucking dead” referring to Republicans on the Real Time with Bill Maher show.
Savage quickly retracted his comment and wrote on his blog that “It was a stupid, rude, thoughtless remark. I regret it and I retract it and I apologize to anyone watching at home.
Is Dan Savage really sorry or is this one-sided tolerance? Rather than educating and campaigning for open minds do we bully the bullies until “It Gets Better”? Homophobic comments made by public figures who then retract there remarks are still expected to put their words into action. Should we hold Savage to the same standard and expect him to work with straight republicans for tolerance on both sides?

Responding to patrickfitzmichael – in my blog I am just stating the facts! I will also say, I think Dan Savage is an awesome guy but I am not going to cut him any slack even if he is a gay rights advocate. Dan Savage clearly displayed what is obvious to most, intolerance with his statement in the video. As far as me targeting conservative Christians, please feel free to point out where I have been an intolerant bigot as you stated?!? I never wished Conservative Christians dead. In my blogs I just stated the facts, educating the public with my point of view on those facts, without wishing anyone harm or dead. Facts vs. bigotry, you obviously are confused by the two.

I blogged about him here. I love the time he went around licking doorknobs at Gary Bauer’s HQ in Iowa. Or the time he told John Cummins to prove that homosexuality is a :”choice” by challenging him to swallow his load.
It’s okay to be an intolerant bigot when the target of your intolerance is conservative Christians.
